Heavy Rain and your Landscaping

Is the rain destroying your landscaping?

It may seem like water and plants are a match made in heaven, and they are, but too much of a good thing ceases to be a good thing. Lately, there has been a lot of rain in Maryland, so how is your landscaping faring? It might be in a little bit of trouble. So, today we’re going to talk about heavy rainfall and how it can affect your landscaping. Are you ready to learn more? Let’s do it!

Too much of a good thing is probably a bad thing.

This is especially true of rain and your plants. Now plants need water to survive, but they can only absorb so much before they run into issues. This is because water is not the only thing that your landscaping needs. They also take nutrients and essentials from the air. If the roots are drowning, then they cannot absorb any air. Not only that, but if there is too much water for too long then they may stop taking in the water altogether. This can lead to their death, which will kill the whole plant. You need to make sure that your landscaping can breathe!

So, what can you do about the excess rain?

Well, the best thing to do is understand the problem so that you can solve it effectively. The problem is excess, so what you need to provide for your plants is a little balance. To do this, you need to make sure that your soil is raised. This will allow water to drain effectively and allow your plants to get all the good stuff they need without drowning in it, and we mean that quite literally.
